Airlie Beach

Cuckoo Clock Shop.

The small town of Airlie Beach lies a few kilometres from the Main Highway East of Proserpine. When driving into Airlie Beach on The Shute Harbour Road you will encounter magnificent views of the Abel Point Marina and out to Pioneer Bay on your left. The town itself has not changed asthetically in the last dozen or so years. But changes are on the way.The Lagoon is a fairly recent addition that is certainly a great plus for The Family Visitor ,and the new Marina Complex is well underway.
All Airlie Beach Accommodations that you choose are basically five mins. walk to the shops and eateries, and of course for the young, the town has plenty of Night Clubs. All the businesses are situated on Shute Harbour Road or The New Esplanade. Backpackers can hire scooters from either of 2 local companies, and there is a Car Hire Company in Town.

The camel train arrives every Saturday for the always popular ride along the beach. Something for the kids to do while mum and dad are shopping around the market for fresh vegetables that are all grown locally.
Some interesting vessels can be seen visiting the area and Abel Point has always got an interesting vessel or two to photograph. On this particular day The Young Endeavour was berthed in the harbour.

For spectacular views you can pop into The Sailing Club and take in the scenery across Pioneer Bay from the verandah. Shopping for clothes, souvenirs or trinkets in Airlie Beach is a joy to behold. The main street has outlets for these businesses on both sides of the road and be careful not to miss the tiny Mermaids Boutique on the oceanside of Shute Harbour Road.

If you think that Airlie Beach has a good selection of shops for the visitor, stop, take a deep breath and suddenly Saturday morning arrives to the hustle and bustle of the Airlie Beach Rotary Market on The Foreshore. A great place to shop until you drop.

Outdoor Dining.

There are many food outlets to choose from to suit everyones budget, and the variety of cuisine to choose from in such a small town is remarkable. Two of our favourite Eateries in Airlie Beach are Fish D'Vine on the left and Cactus Jacks on the right. Fish D'Vine, hosted by Kevin and Becky is well known for its famous Rum Bar and its award winning Seafood Dining, whilst Cactus Jacks is a first class Mexican Restaurant , one of three restaurants incorporated into The Airlie Beach Hotel hosted by Mark Bell. Neptunes Fish and Chips Seafood Bar at the opposite end of The Esplanade and The Village Cafe with its Restaurant and Bar in town close to the clocktower are another two good food outlets.
