Queensland Armchair Guide were guests on Hayman Island in early Dec.2010. From the moment you board the Islands luxury cruiser you find yourself encompassed by a style of hospitality that one rarely encounters on a Tropical Excursion. The day included a familiarisation tour of accommodation upgrades and an introducton to the new Beachside Villa Apartments. In addition, Hayman has been undergoing a refreshment program including upgrade works of the Hayman Pool surrounds.They have also created new dining events in the restaurants and an increased variety of resort activities and reef adventures for everyone's enjoyment. There is more to come.

Public Areas can be an indication of where a resort is at in regards to Managerial Standards. Hayman Island's Management Team and their staff are meticulous in presenting this aspect in a way that few resorts can aspire to equal. Encountering staff on occasion, and to be greeted with a ready smile and an ability to answer questions with enthusiasm is a delight that is reminiscent of a bygone era.
Whether vacationing in a first class resort such as Hayman Island or another of our wonderful Whitsunday Islands, the guests should be made to feel very special. Hayman Island can be proud of their Resort , the Staff and the Management . We were made to feel very special.

On arrival at Shute Harbour we were greeted aboard by the Skipper and Crew decked out in their immaculate nautical white uniforms. Complementary drinks were served and we settled down for the 45 minute journey north to our destination. We have travelled this journey many times on our yacht Auriga 11 to anchor off Blue Pearl Bay at Hayman Island but this was far more comfortable and nowhere near as time consuming. Salmon sandwiches, fruity nibblies and chockies were served as Hook Island loomed in the distance on our starboard side.
Shortly after 9-00am we entered the Hayman Island Marina and were met by Monique Grant (PR & Sales Mgr.) and escorted to The Azure Restaurant by buggy for a splendid buffet breakfast.

Walking enthusiasts will find Hayman an absolute pleasure. The resort has beautifully designed landscaping and blends exquisite manicured gardens with rugged bushland and tropical canopies, offering visitors the opportunities for nature walks or gentle climbs to scenic lookouts with views to secluded white sand beaches. Flora and fauna are abundant on the island with many unique plant species and abundant wildlife including White Cockatoos, Painted Lorikeets, Kookaburras, and Herons. Colonies of endangered Proserpine Rock Wallabies also inhabit the island and are part of an ongoing breeding program in conjunction with Queensland Parks and Wildlife. The reception areas are spacious and the decor is splendid in every way. The Gentlemans Rest Room bedecked in Marble was an interesting experience. Amazing how many of the female gender summoned up the audacity to take a quick peek at the omnipotent splendour afforded to us mere male mortals.
