The Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Caloundra.

In early days before white settlement The Sunshine Coast area was the traditional homeland of The Undumbi People. In fact their land stretched as far south as The Brisbane River. The Glass House Mountains in the hinterland area were of historical significance to these people who in the late 1800's were driven from their lands by the early white settlers. Descendants of these people are now populating the Kuranda district in Far North Queensland and Palm Island off the coast near Townsville.

With an average winter temperature of 25C. The Sunshine Coast is an all year round destination for the tourist. Attractions are numerous whether you are visiting The Hinterland or The Coastal Strip. The Australia Zoo and Underwater World are two of the most popular venues but there are many more attractions throughout the region. The coloured sands at Teewah in The Great Sandy National Park and The Glass House Mountains are two of the natural wonders to be found here.

The Village can be viewed by transport provided on request for the elderly, and there are a couple of miniature trains that provide rides through part of the Village. Located at 280 Beerburrum Rd. the Village is open daily at 9-30am.

Our first stop, arriving at The Sunshine Coast is Caloundra. A very popular spot for the visitor, plenty of restaurants in the town and several fabulous beaches. The Queensland Air Museum is located at the airport. Caloundra is an ideal spot for a relaxing family holiday with the option of visiting Bribie Island, a few kilometres to the south.

Further north we arrive at Maroochydore, the business centre of The Sunshine Coast. Another popular beach resort with the added attraction of the Maroochy River Cruise. Mooloolaba is the main tourist centre with The Esplanade providing lots of resort type shops. Plenty of good restaurants in the area and good night-time entertainment for the young. The harbour area has several restaurants, and close by is the Under Water World Complex. Walk to The Bluff at Alexander Headland and enjoy the views over The Maroochy River to Mudjimba Island and west to Mount Coolum.
Our last stop on the coastal strip is Noosa Heads. Here the main thoroughfare is Hastings St. Shops, galleries and restaurants abound in this area. The Noosa developement is all low-rise which contrasts with the high-rise style of The Gold Coast in the south. A Noosa River Cruise is a pleasant experience. Just a short walk from here you will be in the Noosa National Park. Spectacular scenic views from this place are never forgotten.
